GROUP: Nick Oliveri and His Mondo Generator (USA)

Mondo Generator was previously just a side project of Queens of the Stone Age's bass player (time to time also a vocalist) Nick Oliveri. With the help of some friends (Josh Homme, Brant Bjork etc.) he recorded an album and due to being busy with QOTSA it was released 3 years later in 2000. From there on it was kind of quiet for a long time, but after been kicked out by Homme from QOTSA (due to some obscure reasons) Mondo Generator became a full-time project. As Oliveri was the most...er...what's the word I'm looking for... well, let's just say he was the hard rock side of the Quuens, so his Mondo Generator sounds too a bit more harder than QOTSA. I especially like his coarse voice and the despair of the songs.
Anyway their album Dead Planet: SonicSlowMotionTrails is released through Mother Tongue Records on the 4th September 2006. It will be preceded by a single I Never Sleep on the 21st August 2006. The video of the single is already out and you can watch it here. And you can listen to some other tracks from their myspace.com profile. I recommend the Lie Detector!
