EVENT: featuring at von Krahl

6.07.2006 at 20:00 step up in von Krahl (the absolutely my cup of tea concert place in Tallinn) the following artists:

DJ Don Erikson
HRR + Vootele
Mooses
Rumour is News
Soda Effect
Zahir
Kurjam

Ticket costs 75.- and if you have a flyer you can pay 15.- less (do the math yourself).
The poster looks tempting, but I'm not quite sure. First of all, it's thursday;
secondly, it's the day I planned to visit Õllesummer, the crowded capitalist moneyspending festival, which includes countless number of unpleasant drunken persons and long queues to smelly toiletrooms, but also some great concerts;
thirdly...errr...ee.. I don't know...
It sure is always nice to see Zahir on stage, and I have heard some good things about Rumour is News. Kurjam is too sarcasticly nice. But I don't know about the other groups.
Heaven Monkey, have we seen Soda Effect somewhere? This name sound familiar. Mooses is definately a new name for me, and HRR+Vootele..what is that?
Maybe I should check this out, instead of listening bands I know at Õllesummer? There might be some great discoveries.

Heaven Monkey added a piece of banana:

Well, I was the one who promised to go to that Õllesummer with my fellow monkey, but back then I didn't know about that other simultaneous event at Von Krahl. On the one hand, Riho Sibul and J.M.K.E. will play at Õllesummer (not together, though), but on the other hand I haven't heard Kurjam's new album yet.
In my opinion, Kurjam are much more than sarcasticly nice. Their music isn't something very special - it could be described as a mixture of punk and a bit foolish primitive disco or techno or something like that. They sure are pushing the boundaries in a way. Anyway, the lyrics are absolutely hilarious. I won't translate them, but even the song titles might give some kind of idea about who are you dealing with. For example, "Oldies' Nerves", "I Was The Toughest Guy In Jail", "Ghettoman Is A Good Man", "Aliens Are My Friends", "Chinese Crocodile" etc. Definately a must see!

I like Zahir and their noise rock quite a lot, although I don't find myself listening to their mp3s very often. Their gigs are a lot more convincing. I believe their charismatic front man Tambet can be blamed for that. I've seen (at least once) him allowing people in front rows to touch him :) But don't get me wrong - it's not only about their on-stage-attitude, it's about their music, too.

Rumour is News is a cult band. I have no idea, why. As far as I can remember, I haven't seen them on stage. I have a few songs by them on my computer, but I haven't really listened to them for some odd reason.

Soda Effect is a new indie band from Tartu. I once heard them on radio and they didn't sound Estonian at all (if I remember correctly).

HRR + Vootele.. errm... I think they once had a gig in Kinomaja and Vootele did something perfomance-like before HRR started playing. Maybe I'm wrong... I don't know a thing about their music though, so the only way to find out who they are, is to go and see them next Thursday.

Mooses doesn't ring a bell. I haven't got the vaguest idea who they could be. The same goes for that DJ Don Erikson.
Damn, I turned out to be a complete ignorant. But I'm gonna improve myself very soon, I promise!
